SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- U.S. aircraft leader Boeing Company said Wednesday that it is encouraging its employees to give more time and energy to non-profits via a program that expands its financial support for community investments.

Under the company's newly revised policies, Boeing said, its employees who work as volunteers for non-profit organizations or community services are qualified for a request of a maximum 10,000 U.S. dollars, up from a previous cap of 6,000 dollars, every year from the company as a donation to the organizations they have served.

The new policy revisions to Boeing's "Dollars for Doers" Employee Match Program, a volunteer and gift match scheme, are part of the company's 100-million-dollar tax relief investment earmarked for corporate charitable investments.

The enhanced stimulus measures aim to reward Boeing's employees who give their time, talent and resources to local communities around the world.

The "Dollars for Doers" program refers to a popular employee giving program adopted by many U.S. big companies, such as Boeing, Microsoft and Alaska Airline, under which those companies provide monetary grants to educational institutions, environment protection organizations, charities or other non-profits.

In order to encourage more employees to work as volunteers, Boeing has cut to 10 hours the amount of volunteer time needed to obtain a company match, calculated at 10 dollars per hour in 10 hour increments.

Current programs require that an employee donate at least 25 hours to the same organization in order to receive a company match.

"Through increased employee and community investments like the ones announced today, Boeing and its generous employees inspire the dreamers of tomorrow, and we move the world today through our products and our giving," said John Blazey, vice president of Boeing Global Engagement.

The world's largest aerospace company based in Chicago, Illinois, pledged continued efforts to play "a meaningful role in the growth of our nation and the world."
